There have been a few significant changes in the funeral home business over the last 30+ years and we had the pleasure of hearing about those from Carrie Walters and Alan Palmer of Hinchliff Pearson West Funeral Directors of Galesburg and Abingdon.
They went in depth about how there are a variety of roles at a Funeral Home: visits with family members, night calls, embalming and cosmetizing bodies.
HPW has been a part of the Knox County community for well over 100 years.
The biggest change has been in the number of cremations vs. traditional funerals, going from 15% to 60% in the last 30 years.
Interesting industry.
Thanks Carrie and Alan for sharing your wisdom and experiences of owning a business.
